PROGRAM INFO - 2023 Spring Track and Field Season

PRACTICE INFORMATION:

ALL ATHLETES WILL BE ASSIGNED TO PRACTICE STATIONS during practice time based on the events chosen during registration. Each child MUST choose 4 practice stations.  Prior to the first practice, you will receive a rotation schedule for these stations for your child to follow during practices.

Athletes are encouraged to try any event of interest to them.

After week 2 and again after the first meet, athletes may make changes to practice stations if an event is not to their liking.   Simply email the administrator to request a change.

Practice Days are primarily Monday and/or Thursday from 6:00-8:00.  Some Wednesday practices will be necessary in order to get track time.  

Tentative 2023 Spring Practice and Meet Schedule: 

You must attend practice regularly to participate in the track meets.  Event sign ups for the track meets will be online for the first meet. After the first meet, changes to meet events must be emailed to the club administrator. 

Practice will be canceled during the week when the weather is bad.  Cancellations may occur do to lightening, heavy rain or poor field conditions.  Please note that due to the possibility of injury, illness, behavioral problems, weather cancellation or other issues, children participating in the club under the age of 12 must have a responsible adult present at the field at any and all practices and/or meets.  Children over the age of 12 who are without a guardian at the field must have a cell phone accessible for their personal use in case of any of the above stated issues.   


MEET INFORMATION:

For track meets, athletes choose the events they would like to compete in. 

PARENTS MUST REGISTER THEIR CHILD FOR THE TRACK MEETS BY THE GIVEN DEADLINE.   FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT  IN THE CHILD BEING UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT MEET. THIS IS THE PARENT'S RESPONSIBILITY.

2nd - 3rd grade may choose up to 2 track events
4th - 8th grade may choose up 3 track events. 
Field events are unlimited at meets as long as the athlete actively participates in that field event during the practice week.

Track Events
:
100 meter sprint   
100 meter hurdles
200 meter sprint
400 meter (1 full lap)
800 meter (2 full laps)
1600 meter (1 mile)

Field Events:

High jump    (Middle School Only) A minimum height must be achieved in order to compete at the meets.
Pole Vault    (Middle School Only)  Approval to compete at meets must be given by the PV Coach.
Long jump    (All Ages)
Shot put       (2nd Grade and over)
Discus          (2nd Grade and over)

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
:

You may reuse last year’s uniforms.  If you are reusing, it is very important that you email me ([email protected]) your child’s singlet number for my spreadsheets.

Each athlete will be assigned a number which will be printed on their singlet top.  The numbers are assigned randomly.  The athletes do not get to choose their numbers.

BECAUSE THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ON UNIFORM AND SPIRIT WEAR ORDERS PLEASE READ THE UNIFORM SIZING INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY!

The cost for a uniform is approximately $45.00 (depending on the short option you choose.  Compression shorts are more expensive).

Shipping is additional ($15 for UPS).  This year there is once again a free local pick-up option at the vendor’s location.  The vendor is located on CR 210, East of I-95 just before Beachwalk.  There will be no home delivery option this year, only UPS.


WHAT YOU NEED TO ORDER:

Mandatory Singlet Top and Mandatory Running Short OR the black Compression Shorts. 

The Ladies Compression Running Shorts are adult sizes only.  The basic unisex Compression Running Shorts come in both youth and adult sizes.  The unisex compression short is a longer inseam which you will notice from the photo and sizing information.  Please refer to the sizing charts on the website. Compression shorts run small, so when in doubt size up.  


SIZING INFORMATION:


All uniforms are unisex sizes (singlet tops and running shorts).  
Youth sizes will fit as usual standard youth sizes:
YS  - Size 6-8
YM - Size 10-12
YL - Size 14-16

Please note that the uniforms are NOT available in Youth X-Small (size 4-5).  If your child wears a YXS, please order the singlet (top) in a Youth Small.  Your child may wear a white or black t-shirt or tank under the singlet.  The singlet is mandatory for the track meets.  If a youth small short will not fit your child appropriately, I would suggest your child wear their own shorts (black please).   
 
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE YOUTH IF YOU WANT A YOUTH SIZE. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR SIZE CHOICES BEFORE TO COMPLETE YOUR ORDER. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ON UNIFORMS


FOOTWEAR:

Please make sure your child has a good supportive pair of running shoes to participate in the track program.  Spikes are strongly encouraged for 2nd - 8th grade but not required. Spikes are not allowed in the Mini Group (K - 1st)
