SPRING TRACK STARTS WEEK OF FEB 12th!

Registration & Program Info (2nd-8th Grade) - Spring 2024

Our program is a great introduction to track & field.  We are a recreational program, so we do not require tryouts.  All skill levels are welcome.  Our program is one of encouragement and stressing individual progress along with offering a degree of competition. We have a staff of professional coaches in addition to student coaches who are all high school track athletes.

REGISTRATION:

REGISTRATION FOR THE CREEKS 2024 SPRING TRACK & FIELD SEASON IS OPEN THRU FEBRUARY 4, 2024.  REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE EARLIER IF WE REACH MAXIMUM CAPACITY.  

COST: 

YOU MAY CHOOSE A 1-DAY OR 2-DAY PER WEEK PRACTICE SCHEDULE.  THE PROGRAM COSTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1-DAY  $  178.00 per child (includes a $3 service fee)+ uniform cost $47.50 - you may reuse a previous season's uniform
2-DAY  $  203.00 per child (includes a $3 service fee)
 + uniform cost $47.50 - you may reuse a previous season's uniform

$10.00 MEET FEE: 
IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE PA
RTICIPATING IN ANY TRACK MEETS, THERE IS A ONE TIME $10 FEE.  THIS $10 COVERS ALL MEETS.  This $10 meet fee helps us cover facility and meet expenses including snacks and beverages for our coaches working the meet.   If you do not pay the meet fee, you will not be able to register your child for track meets.

1-DAY PRACTICE PROGRAM IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
If you are registering for 1-Day Practice week, you MUST answer "Yes" to the question "are you registering for the 1 Day program?" during registration to receive your discount.  If you do not answer "Yes", you will be charged the 2 Day price of $200.00.

If you registered for the 1-day practice program, feel free to come either day during the week but please choose a day during registration for our planning purposes. 

REFUND POLICY:  No refunds after close of open registration without a written medical excuse from a physician.  With a written medical excuse from a physician, a $15 processing fee will be charged in the event of a refund. After March 1, 2024, no refunds will be processed even with a written medical excuse.


PRACTICE INFORMATION: 

THE SPRING SEASON WILL BEGIN MONDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2024. 

PRACTICES ARE AT BARTRAM TRAIL HIGH SCHOOL EITHER ON THE TRACK OR ON THE PRACTICE FIELD. 

PRACTICE SCHEDULE: 

Practices are scheduled primarily for Mondays and Thursdays. 

PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE SOME WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY PRACTICES DUE TO FACILITY SCHEDULE CONFLICTS WITH HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS.  We do our best to keep changes at a minimum, but it will happen.  All practices are from 6:15 - 8:15pm.

We have also added two Sunday afternoon practices for sprinters, long jumpers and high jumpers.  Sprinters and jumpers are most affected by practices held off the track on the practice field, so we have added these two Sunday dates to offer them track time.

No Practice the week of St Johns County Spring Break.

ALL ATHLETES WILL BE ASSIGNED TO PRACTICE STATIONS
Each child MUST choose 4 practice stations during registration. Prior to the first practice, you will receive a rotation schedule for these stations for your child to follow during practices.

Athletes are encouraged to try any event of interest to them.

After the Night Meet the end of February, athletes may make changes to practice stations if an event is not to their liking.   Simply email the club administrator to request a change.

You must attend practice regularly to participate in the track meets. 

Practice will be canceled during the week when the weather is bad.  Cancellations may occur do to lightening, heavy rain or poor field conditions.  Please note that due to the possibility of injury, illness, behavioral problems, weather cancellation or other issues, children participating in the club under the age of 12 must have a responsible adult present at the field at any and all practices and/or meets.  Children over the age of 12 who are without a guardian at the field must have a cell phone accessible for their personal use in case of any of the above stated issues.

Under the Lights Meet will be held in place of regular practice during the week from 6:15 - 8:30.  Dates and Times of each event and specifics grades will be shared the week prior.

Sunday Track Meets are held early Sunday mornings 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Specific check-in times will be given prior to the meet. In general, 2nd and 3rd graders compete first, followed by 4th and 5th graders and then followed by middle school.

Athletes choose the events they would like to compete in at the meets, not the coaches.  Some events require coach clearance in order to compete.   

2nd - 3rd grade may choose up to 2 track events
4th - 8th grade may choose up 3 track events. 
Field events are unlimited at meets as long as the athlete actively participates in that field event during the practice week.

Track Events
:
100 meter sprint   
100 meter hurdles
200 meter sprint
400 meter (1 full lap)
800 meter (2 full laps)
1600 meter (1 mile)

Field Events:

High jump  (Middle School Only) A minimum height must be achieved in order to compete at the meets.
Pole Vault  (Middle School Only)  Approval to compete at meets must be given by the PV Coach.
Long jump  (All Ages)
Shot put     (2nd Grade and over)
Discus         (2nd Grade and over)

You may reuse a previous season’s uniform.  If you are reusing, it is very important that you email me ([email protected]) your child’s singlet number for my spreadsheets.

COST: 

The cost for a uniform through the web store is $47.50.

Uniforms will be ready the week of February 19th.

WHAT YOU NEED TO ORDER:

Mandatory Singlet Top and Mandatory Running Short

SIZING INFORMATION:

All uniforms are unisex sizes (singlet tops and running shorts).  
Youth sizes will fit as usual standard youth sizes:
Youth Small  - Size 6-8
Youth Medium - Size 10-12
Youth Large - Size 14-16

Please note that the uniforms are NOT available in Youth X-Small (size 4-5).  If your child wears a YXS, please order the singlet (top) in a Youth Small.  Your child may wear a white or black t-shirt or tank under the singlet.  The singlet is mandatory for the track meets.  If a youth small short will not fit your child appropriately, I would suggest your child wear their own shorts (black please).

RECEIVING YOUR ITEMS:

1.      LOCAL PICKUP at the Vendor – No Charge. Pickup at the vendor located on CR 210, East of I-95 just before Beachwalk.  Please note the vendor has limited store hours during the week and is not open on weekends.

2.      DELIVERY TO YOUR HOME OR DELIVERY TO THE FIELD (PRACTICE) – UPS to your Home is $15.  Delivered to the Track during practice is $5.  The $5 goes back to the track club as a fundraiser. You must choose the Shipping Option during checkout and enter your address for both UPS or Track pickup. Both options will appear after you enter your address.

FOOTWEAR:

Please make sure your child has a good supportive pair of running shoes to participate in the track program.  Spikes may be worn (with the exception of the Mini Group) but are encouraged not required.  The vast majority of our participants wear a traditional running shoe and not a spike.
